EA comments on bringing Battlefield 3 and Mass Effect to the Wii U
EA hasn't really announced if Mass Effect 3 and Battlefield 3 will be coming to the Wii U but they sure have been talking.
"What's really going to make it [Wii U] stand out for core gamers is the new controller. It's touchscreen, it's elegant and it works seamlessly with the experience. We've just had a little bit of time with it and we've uncovered new ways of playing Battlefield that I'm really excited about," said Frank Gibeau of Electronic Arts regarding Battlefield 3.
He also had some things to say on bringing Mass Effect to the Wii U. The way he worded it sounded like their might be some news at a later time.
"I can’t say we are going to do it on the Wii U, but you can imagine what we could do with that controller in the Mass Effect universe. It feels like a really nice fit, but we’ll announce that when the time is right."

Pikmin moved from Wii to Wii U
Pikmin has been in development for the Wii for a long time now. A lot of people (including me) thought that it was going to be showed at this years E3. It was even supposed to be released this year for Pikmin's tenth anniversary.
At Nintendo's Q&A session Miyamoto revealed that he decided to push the game from the Wii to the Wii U. "I think that's the perfect system for Pikmin. So we're going to make it for that," he said.

Hands on with the Wii U console
As you can see it has everything you need, four usb ports, HDMI, and an SD card slot. There doesn't seem to be an Ethernet port which suggests this will most likely use WiFi just like the Wii. Although they haven't announced how much space it's going to have they did say that the Wii U will support external hard drives.
Keep in mind that from now until launch things could change and this might not be final hardware.
The Wii U is backwards compatible with the Wii and all it's accessories but not with the GameCube. This on the other hand is something that most likely will not change when the Wii U launches next year.
