Reviews are in: LEGO City Undercover

Game Informer: 8.5/10 - "It isn’t perfect, but I can’t think of another Wii U game that I’d recommend more than Lego City Undercover. [...] Now kids (and their parents) can tool around in a big town where people smile even as you almost run them over in an ice-cream truck."

Polygon: 7/10 - "Considering it has to avoid the salacious scenes and hyper-violence used to spice its genre brethren, Lego City Undercover is pretty darned impressive. But it's hard not to be a disappointed that Lego City Undercover doesn't play more to Lego's strengths, trading the carnal for the creative or the wanton for wonder."

Joystiq: 3/5 - "...TT Fusion is, quite appropriately, building towards something more with Undercover, something that really shows Lego games can stand on their own two leg blocks. It just isn't there yet."

Edge: 5/10 - "...for parents and adults, Undercover is a less inviting prospect, even with its satirical undertone. It’s a plastic facsimile of GTA – a game that was hardly humourless to begin with, and one that has already spawned a genre’s worth of more sophisticated rivals and clones."

IGN: 8/10 - "Undercover’s story is an incredibly entertaining homage to countless movies and television shows, and manages to feature a very strong cast of characters – no small feat considering the game has no major license associated with it."

Rayman Legends full online challenge mode free to download from Wii U eShop in April

When Rayman Legends was delayed from releasing later this month to September a lot of fans voiced their disappointment online. Mainly because the game is already finished for the Wii U, it was delayed just so it would launch at the same time as the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions.

The dev team behind Rayman Legends didn't want to delay the game, it was a decision by the suits at Ubisoft. So to apologize to Wii U owners they're releasing the full online challenge mode for free on the Wii U eShop instead of just the demo they had previously said they were going to release.

Wii U Virtual Console Trial Campaign has games for 30 cents

Every month from now until July there will be a Virtual Console game that you will be able to buy for 30 cents. This promotion is part of the 30th anniversary of the famicom. After the promotion ends you will be able to buy the game at its normal price.

But hell for 30 cents I will probably buy anything.

Nintendo planning Wii U updates to increase system speed and launch Virtual Console

Nintendo has heard the cries of Wii U owners and are planning on fixing some issues with two updates, one in the spring and one in the summer. The updates will address the time it takes to launch a game from the Wii U main menu as well as the time it takes to get back.

Nintendo also plans to launch their Virtual Console service for the Wii U after the spring update. These NES and SNES games will be updated to have extra features like the ability to save at any time, play off the gamepad screen, and access the Miiverse community for that specific game.

Nintendo is also looking to add GBA games as well but it's unclear if that will be at the launch of the service or at a later time.

The prices for these games are in my opinion still a little too high. The NES games will range from 5 to 6 dollars and the SNES games from 8 to 9 dollars. If you have bought some games from the Virtual Console in the past you will have the opportunity to re-buy the updated versions at a lower price. It will be 1 dollar for NES games and 1.50 for SNES.
