There's a rumor floating around saying that there was supposed to be a Monster Hunter game announcement for the 3DS at this year's Monster Hunter Festa. The event was canceled after the recent earthquakes in Japan and so no announcement was made.
Capcom has promised a 3DS announcement next month so we might find out sooner rather than later.
